Anna Maria Island is just a little piece of paradise.  It is like stepping back in time.  You must first cross an old fashioned draw bridge to get to the island and once you get there it is quaint and very relaxed.  The sand is white as salt and the water is crystal clear blue.  There are no amusement parks, bowling alleys or movie theaters.  It is an opportunity for families to enjoy each other bicycle riding, swimming, sea shell hunting, exploring, fishing and checking out the little shops and ice cream parlors.  It is a true place for families to reconnect!

When I went to Anna Maria Island I was taken with Rod and Reel Pier.  It has an old world touch and brought to mind Jimmy Buffet’s song Margaritaville.  This is one of the most beautiful beach areas I have ever been to and it offers the relaxing environment that we seek to get away from the stress of big city living.

If you want to take in the big city sites and historical sites of Florida you are just a short drive away.  I would recommend it to anybody who just wants to “get away from it all”.

Love the Webcam! If I don’t have the time to get out to the Pier, I can still see it and experience the relaxation of being on the North End.

Complements of BayNews9-  ANNA MARIA ISLAND—
Anna Maria Island has been selected as a top retirement destination by a national magazine.

Where to Retire is geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions.  The magazine’s editor, Mary Lu Abbott, said Anna Maria Island possesses qualities important to today’s retirees.

She said the island “maintains an Old Florida feel, giving retirees respite from crowds and congested freeways, yet still within reach of urban amenities.”

The magazine said each year, 700,000 Americans relocate to new towns to retire.

Generally, relocating retirees are healthier, better educated and more affluent than those who choose to not relocate. They also bring significant economic benefits to their new states and hometowns.

Nationally, two dozen states and hundreds of towns seek to attract retirees as a source of economic development.

Anna Maria island will be profiled in “4 Florida Beach Hideaways” in the November/December 2012 issue, available nationwide on October 16, 2012. Englewood, Fernandina Beach and Flagler Beach are also featured as top retirement destinations in the magazine.

I love looking at this webcam whenever I feel the need for some relaxation. The pier, water and sand make me realise I will be enjoying this in a few months time, when myself and family will be enjoying this when we take our annual vacation from the UK to the gulf coast. We love everything about this part of the world and enjoy coming here year after year.
